Transporte e direções: vocabulário

Pedir direção na rua começa com Excuse me e a pergunta How do I get to e o lugar: How do I get to the station? Get to é chegar a. O chegar à do português puxa um arrive to, que está errado: to arrive pede at ou in (arrive at the station), e para pedir o caminho a frase é How do I get to...?

A resposta vem em blocos curtos: Turn left. Go straight for two blocks. It is on the right, on the corner. Turn vai sem artigo (turn left, e não turn the left), e reto é straight.

Esquina é on the corner. In the corner é outro lugar: o canto de dentro de uma sala.

No ônibus e no trem, subir é get on e descer é get off: Get off at the next stop. Go down é descer uma rua ou uma escada; para sair do ônibus, é get off. E pegar o ônibus é take the bus, como take a taxi.

Fica longe? Pergunta com to be inverte: Is it far? A resposta boa de ouvir: No, it is near. It is two blocks from here.
