Pedir o caminho

Comece com Excuse me e pergunte Where is the station?. Você pode trocar station por outro lugar que já conhece, como bank ou hotel.

Ana: Excuse me. Where is the station? Pedro: Go straight. Ana: Com licença. Onde fica a estação? Pedro: Siga em frente.

Escolher o lado certo

Turn left manda virar à esquerda; turn right manda virar à direita. São instruções, então começam com o verbo, sem precisar de you.

Pedro: Turn left at the bank. Ana: Left at the bank? Pedro: Yes. Pedro: Vire à esquerda no banco. Ana: À esquerda no banco? Pedro: Isso.

Usar um ponto de referência

Depois da ação, at indica o lugar onde você deve virar. Em Turn right at the hotel, o hotel é a referência para a curva, não necessariamente o destino.

Go straight. Turn right at the hotel. The station is next to the bank. Siga em frente. Vire à direita no hotel. A estação fica ao lado do banco.

Encontrar o destino

On the left e on the right informam de que lado fica o lugar, considerando quem segue o caminho. Não são ordens para virar: descrevem a localização.
